It’s the Energy Transition Week at UCLouvain - Université catholique de Louvain!
At iMMC, sustainability is not a slogan — it’s our daily scientific reality.
Every day this week, discover one of our researcher whose research drives real change toward a sustainable future.
Can wood densification improve the value of light wood in Wallonia?
The transition is not only aimed at reducing our carbon emissions, but also at preserving the ecosystem services we benefit from. To reverse the decline in the health of our forests by diversifying tree species, wood densification can play a major role, while providing us with a new source of wood with high mechanical properties.
Within the team of Prof. Pardoen Thomas, Matthieu Gailliez, Sophie Ryelandt et Victor Hannecart Victor Hannecart is investigating how densification can transform local light wood into a high-performance, sustainable material.
“Densified wood as a new designing material.”
