EXCALIBUR : Experimental and Computational Analysis of monopile extraction: Leveraging Innovation and Better Understanding for Renewable offshore wind energy

As offshore wind turbines near the end of their operational life, efficient decommissioning of foundations is crucial for sustainability. 

EXCALIBUR focuses on developing strategies for monopile removal using vibratory extraction and jetting techniques. Testing occurs at various scales, from small models to in-situ tests. 

The project also studies ageing processes affecting extractability and develops numerical models to predict mechanical responses. This aims to improve prediction accuracy for future decommissioning projects.
