Antoine Christiaens has been awarded the 2025 Suzanne and Jean Pirart Prize from the Association du Diabète in recognition of his research on diabetes overtreatment in older adults. The award will support his future work on understanding the mechanisms of overtreatment in older adults living with type 2 diabetes, partly conducted at the University of Oxford (Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences).

Antoine Christiaens (MD, PhD) is a postdoctoral researcher in pharmacoepidemiology at the Louvain Drug Research Institute (UCLouvain) and a visiting researcher at the University of California, San Francisco. His research focuses on optimising the treatment of chronic diseases in older populations, with a particular emphasis on overtreatment and deprescribing in type 2 diabetes, using causal inference methods applied to real-world data.
