From self-knowledge to knowing others (5th edition): Towards the development of transdiagnostic dimensional approaches and process-oriented evidence-based practices to evaluate and enhance self-other functioning

Save the date for this two-day workshop to be held in Brussels on Monday 1st and Tuesday 2nd of December 2025.

The workshop aims to gather senior and junior researchers from all fields, from fundamental neuroscience to clinical research, sharing an interest in social cognition and interpersonal behaviour.

This year, we have invited experts to cover two main topics:

  • Transdiagnostic and dimensional approaches: Moving beyond categorical diagnoses to explore cross-cutting models that better capture individual differences in self-other functioning across mental health conditions.
  • Process-oriented interventions: Presenting cognitive and affective strategies (e.g., perspective-taking, self-reflection) aimed at enhancing interpersonal functioning in both clinical and non-clinical populations.

The overarching objective is to bridge the gap between our understanding of the malleability of self-other processes and the development of dimensional, process-based evaluation and intervention methods.

We encourage junior researchers to present their work via a poster or a short talk, even if your work is loosely related to this year’s topics. Several awards will be granted for the best posters.

Confirmed keynote speakers are Geoff Bird (University of Oxford), Annabel Bogaerts (University of Amsterdam), Christopher C. Conway (Fordham University), Aikaterini (Katerina) Fotopoulou (University College London), Antonia Hamilton (University College London),  Elodie Peyroux (Centre Hospitalier Le Vinatier).

Seats are limited to 120 participants. Registration will open soon. To stay tuned visit https://www.self-knowing-others.org/ or add yourself to the email list here.
