Following a doctoral training

fial | Louvain-la-Neuve

The doctoral training consists of a series of scientific activities (participation in seminars or symposiums; publication of articles, etc.), totalling 60 credits.

Each doctoral school sets its own training methods. You will find more information by following the link to the doctoral school which is pertinent for you.

Interdisciplinary competences and professional projects

The doctorate is an opportunity to acquire cutting-edge scientific expertise. The doctorate also allows for the acquisition of interdisciplinary skills or "soft skills" that will be useful in the professional wrold after the thesis: project management, statistics, use of documentary databases, public speaking, etc.

Three resources have been developed for you by the UCLouvain PhD unit (VALODOC), in collaboration with the Information and Orientation Centre (IOC).

1.A catalog of cross-functional training accessible to PhD students

2. A self-assessment brochure to evaluate your skills: Yes I can! (in French and English)

3.An illustrated brochure (comic book style) on the many career opportunities after the doctorate. A real source of inspiration for professional life after the thesis.
