Greenhouse, sorting facility and agricultural equipment: a new boost for the FERM platform through the Plan de Relance

Thanks to the Walloon Plan de Relance, the FERM platform has recently deployed:

• a new greenhouse measuring 57 m × 30 m, divided into six units of 9.6 m × 30 m. Each unit is equipped with an opening roof and can be controlled independently (roof opening and irrigation), making it possible to create different climatic conditions for research purposes;
• a sorting facility, designed to separate crops after harvest in intercropping trials (e.g. wheat and faba bean);
• new agricultural equipment, including a tractor equipped with GPS guidance, a field crop seed drill, equipment for the mechanical termination of cover crops, and a mechanical weeding tool.

These new facilities and equipment significantly enhance the FERM platform’s capacity to support innovative research projects and strengthen collaboration opportunities with industry partners.
