The Cétral: a unique hub for research, innovation, and training focused on healthy, sustainable, and local food

The Cétral – the Transdisciplinary Center for the Study of Food Transformations and Transitions – is now part of the FERM technology platform, alongside the university farms of Louvain.

This integration marks a major step forward in strengthening synergies between agriculture, food, and health at UCLouvain.

Located at the Lauzelle farm, the Cétral will offer a unique space for research, innovation, and training focused on healthy, sustainable, and local food.

Its activities are centered around:

  • The nutritional characterization of foods and ingredients

  • The development of innovative food products

  • The analysis of the environmental impact of food

  • The study of food aging and preservation

  • The management of nutritional and health claims
