RéViVRE (Virtual Reality for a Renewed and Ecological City) is an Interreg cross‑border project led in particular by UCLouvain, through the MiiL and the CREAT, aimed at helping local authorities adapt their public spaces to the effects of climate change.
Using immersive extended‑reality (XR) tools, the project enables citizens, researchers, urban planners, and decision‑makers to co‑design solutions to address urban heat islands, stormwater runoff, and mobility challenges.
RéViVRE combines tactical urbanism, citizen participation, and immersive technologies to develop innovative, replicable, and resilient methods for territories in France, Wallonia, and Flanders.
The MiiL is already behind several major innovations:
- Immersive visualization — creating augmented‑ and mixed‑reality simulations to explore different urban design scenarios,
- Data intelligibility — designing clear, interactive interfaces that make environmental impacts accessible,
- Agile‑UX approach — developing open, adaptable prototypes co‑constructed with citizens and local authorities.
