Louvain School of Management Students Gain Free Access to TradingView Platform

Thanks to the initiative of Dr. James Thewissen, Professor of Finance, students in the Current Issues in Finance course at UCLouvain’s Louvain School of Management (LSM) now enjoy free access to the Essential plan of TradingView. TradingView is one of the world’s leading platforms for financial market analysis, widely used by professional investors, traders, and analysts to track global trends, test strategies, and communicate insights.

This partnership provides LSM students with hands-on exposure to professional-grade financial technology. TradingView offers real-time market data, interactive charting, advanced screening tools, stock heatmaps, and an integrated economic calendar that highlights key macroeconomic announcements driving financial markets. Students also gain access to Pine Script, a coding language that enables them to design customized indicators and strategies, combining financial knowledge with practical data analysis and programming skills.

For Professor Thewissen, the integration of TradingView is not only about technical proficiency but also about fostering behavioral and emotional awareness in decision-making:

“TradingView enables our students not only to analyze financial markets with professional-grade tools, but also to confront their own biases and emotions,” says Thewissen. “Through simulated trading, they experience the impact of psychological factors such as fear of missing out (FOMO), loss aversion, or overconfidence. By reflecting on these behavioral dimensions, they build the analytical rigor and emotional discipline needed to succeed in real-world finance.”

The introduction of TradingView into the finance curriculum is emblematic of LSM’s broader commitment to innovation. By exposing students to cutting-edge fintech tools, the school ensures its graduates are prepared for a financial world increasingly shaped by data analytics, artificial intelligence, and behavioral finance insights.

As one of the leading European business schools, Louvain School of Management combines academic excellence with strong corporate engagement and international recognition. The school is EQUIS-accredited, a proud member of the CEMS Global Alliance in Management Education, and places sustainability at the heart of its teaching and research. Initiatives such as the partnership with TradingView illustrate LSM’s ambition to connect students with real-world challenges, digital transformation, and responsible business practices, equipping them to become leaders in tomorrow’s economy.
