A Leading Journal in the Social Sciences of Religion
Social Compass is a bilingual (French/English) academic journal specializing in the social sciences of religion and spirituality. Since its founding in 1953, it has published original research and review articles by authors from around the world, combining scientific rigor with relevance to current debates. Hosted by the IACCHOS Institute, the journal promotes interdisciplinary approaches to better understand religious dynamics on a global scale.
Social Compass is intended for researchers, professionals, and students with an interest in the social sciences of religion and spirituality.
A Bilingual Journal Rooted in Current Scientific Debates
The journal is published quarterly. Each volume includes :
- Thematic issues in collaboration with invited experts,
- Freely submitted articles (Varia),
- And, every two years, a special issue featuring plenary lectures from the Congrès de la SISR (Société internationale de sociologie de la religion), a partner of the journal since 1989.
