Sociétés en Changement - Decoding the Transformations of Our World

Scientific outreach serving societal debate
Sociétés en Changement is an accessible thematic science publication aimed at shedding light on contemporary debates through the lens of the social sciences. With accessible articles, it offers a critical and nuanced analysis of societal issues, drawing on the diverse perspectives of researchers from the Institute.
Strengthening the presence of social sciences in the public sphere
Launched in 2017, this initiative is the result of an interdisciplinary collaboration between the various research centers within the IACCHOS Institute. Three issues are published each year, each exploring a specific topic over eight pages. The goal is to highlight research that fuels public debate while providing nuanced, reliable, and accessible information.
« This initiative was born from an observation: in the social sciences, researchers are often stuck between two traditional roles — the expert and the opinion writer. Changing Societies aims to create a dedicated space for the dissemination of social science expertise, through a peer-reviewed publication. » — Matthieu de Nanteuil.
Multiple perspectives for a comprehensive understanding
The strength of Sociétés en Changement lies in its multidisciplinary approach. Each issue presents a convergence of viewpoints, enriched with data, explorations of language, and contrasting interpretations. This format of science communication makes social complexity accessible to a broad audience while maintaining scientific rigor.
Partnerships and visibility
Our analyses are featured in leading media outlets to enrich public debate. Through partnerships with Le Soir and La Première (RTBF), each publication benefits from independent journalistic coverage, increasing the impact of Sociétés en Changement by making it more accessible to the general public and policy makers.
