This course offers an immersive and transdisciplinary experience, centered on Design Thinking and Lean Startup methodologies. It addresses current challenges of sustainability, creativity, and innovation under constraints, providing students with the necessary tools to design concrete solutions to complex socio-technical issues.
Learning outcomes
Students will learn to identify and develop impactful innovative ideas, work in uncertain contexts related to sustainability, integrate stakeholder expectations and user experience (UX), prototype and test solutions in real conditions, manage a project in a multicultural and multidisciplinary environment, and effectively communicate an innovative project.
2026 Theme
This year’s challenge will revolve around Ageing well through a stimulating environment or object for human to human interactions. Students will work in teams, supported by tutors, with continuous assessment linked to project milestones (gates).
Course launch
From September 23 to 25, 2026, with three days of immersion focused on observation, problem definition, and the first interviews on this year challenge, in preparation for the first “gate”. This course will also propose the opportunity to join a 3 day workshop on ageing well in Pisa within the CircleU alliance from October 21st to 23rd
