For the tenants

loge |

Each tenant is responsible for the cleaning and routine maintenance of their accommodation, as well as the shared spaces. This includes maintaining cleanliness, managing waste according to the guidelines, and replacing consumables such as light bulbs, fire alarm batteries, and range hood filters.

For tenants in shared housing, a cleaning team intervenes once a week to clean the common areas only. The cleaning schedule is posted in the community area. Before the cleaning team arrives, tenants must ensure the community space is tidied up:

  • Empty all trash into the designated bins;
  • Clean and store the dishes;
  • Clear the countertops, sink, tables, stove, and oven;
  • Tidy up the restrooms: clear the shelves of sinks, remove any items from the showers (products, clothing, etc.);
  • Clear all hallways and other common spaces.
  •

To prevent humidity build-up, tenants are asked to ventilate their accommodation for at least 5 to 10 minutes every day. In winter, if you are absent, please ensure that the radiator is set to at least level 1.

In case of failure to follow these guidelines or if repairs are necessary, cleaning or repair costs may be charged to the tenant(s).

Subletting conditions

Subletting a UCLouvain accommodation is allowed, but only under strict conditions. All inquiries should be directed to Inforlogement.

Responsibilities of the main tenant

In case of subletting, the main tenant retains full responsibility for the accommodation.

This includes:

  • Payment of rent in case of unpaid rent by the subtenant.
  • Coverage of any rental damages or other contract violations.

Additional Information

Contract renewal: The subtenant does not have the option to extend the lease for an additional year, even if they meet the eligibility criteria. The contract remains tied to the main tenant.
Legal and contractual obligations: The main tenant remains subject to the obligations defined in their initial contract, even in the case of subletting.
