PhD in Legal Studies

The PhD in Legal Studies at UCLouvain is based on the writing of an original dissertation, which can take one of two forms:
An in-depth monograph on a specific topic;
A dissertation consisting of a coherent set of publications and achievements authored or co-authored by the PhD candidate (article-based thesis).
This research work is equivalent to 180 ECTS credits, including 60 ECTS of doctoral training. The dissertation may be written in French, English, or, if justified by its subject matter, another language accepted by the jury.
