Plan data management costs
biul |
Data management may involve significant costs. This page will help you estimate and plan for these expenses.
Consider the data management costs associated with each stage of your research project. Depending on your Funder, some of these costs may be eligible for reimbursement during or after the project period.
How to proceed?
1. Estimate the costs
Consult the Utrecht University Data Management Costs Guide to help you approximate these expenses.
2. Contact the ADFI or ADRE contact (that depends on your Funder : Horizon Europe, ERC, FNRS, etc.) to determine whether these costs are eligible within your research projects.
Examples :
- You may require assistance from a colleague at certain stages of the process. Their contribution should be accounted for in your budget. For instance, if you need support from a logisticien de recherche for one month, their salary should be covered by the grant.
- Storage or repository solutions may also incur costs. Be mindful of these aspects when selecting data repository or data storage solutions.
- The CISM platform provides storage for large amounts of data at cost price. The details of the pricing are explained at this page: https://www.cism.ucl.ac.be/doc/_contents/Storage/index.html#about-the-costs
- Sharing the data via an Open Data platform, such as opendata.uclouvain.be, can also incur costs.
