EPL Excellence Scholarships – Master’s programme

The EPL Excellence Scholarships aim to attract outstanding engineering students from around the world to pursue a Master’s degree at the Université catholique de Louvain (UCLouvain). The scholarships are open to international applicants admitted to a Master’s programme at the École polytechnique de Louvain (EPL), including programmes in Engineering, Computer Science and Data Science. Selection is primarily based on academic excellence.
Scholarships benefits
The EPL Excellence Scholarships cover the full UCLouvain tuition fee for the duration of the Master’s programme (two years), provided that the student’s academic performance during the first Master year is satisfactory (i.e. all courses are credited, with a minimum GPA of 13/20).
Eligibility criteria
To be considered for the scholarships, applicants must:
- Meet the admission requirements for one of the eligible Master’s programmes at EPL
- Successfully apply for admission as an international student
- Add a letter of recommendation from a professor in their online admission application

Selection process
The scholarships are awarded primarily on the basis of academic excellence. The selection process is undertaken in parallel with the admissions process. Candidates are evaluated based on:
- Academic performance (minimum GPA of 3.2/4, or equivalent to approximately 80%; top 10% ranked during the previous years)
- The academic reputation or ranking of the institution where the Bachelor’s degree was obtained
The overall quality of the application, including:
- research experience or publications
- relevant work or internship experience
- teaching experience
- awards, competitions, or other extracurricular achievements
How to apply?
Applicants must first apply for admission to a Master’s programme at EPL via: Proceed with your application | Université catholique de Louvain. The only additional document requested whilst submitting their admission application will be a letter of recommendation from a professor, as part of the eligibility criteria.

Once the scholarships call is open, candidates can submit their application using the EPL Excellence Scholarships form on this page. The EPL Excellence Scholarships form must be submitted by :
- 31 March to apply as a Non-EU national student
- 31 May to apply as an EU national student *
* As this new scholarship scheme has only just been launched, we will, on an exceptional basis, extend the application deadline from 31 May to 21 June (midnight) for EU national Master’s students starting in the 2026–2027 academic year.
The granting of the scholarships is conditional upon the successful completion of the enrolment process at UCLouvain. Selected candidates will be notified by email shortly after their admission to the Master’s programme has been confirmed. We encourage students wishing to apply for these scholarships to submit their applications as soon as possible, as applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
