Welcome to the English Department !
The ILV, the Language Institute of the UCLouvain, offers you English courses, from beginner+ (A2) to advanced (C1) levels.
Our team has developed a teaching approach adapted to the different faculties and programmes. Depending on your specialisation, you will be able to
- practice English in the 4 main skill areas (reading, speaking, writing and listening) through a variety of adapted activities,
- learn English general vocabulary as well as vocabulary that is specific to your academic programme
- review English grammar.
We offer two types of teaching units:
- Faculty teaching units
-> Select your faculty from the menu to discover the English courses offered there, on the Louvain-la-Neuve campus, at bachelor's and master's level.
- ‘All faculties’ teaching units
-> UCLouvain students only can take English courses known as ‘all faculties’ (general, not related to a specific field of study).
-> The English course must be included in the student's annual programme, subject to authorisation from the English course coordinator AND their faculty (via the programme manager). How? See the language course registration page for UCLouvain students.
