To obtain a certificate or attestation, please contact the Enrolment Office on your campus.
Some documents must be requested from the faculties. On this page, you will find a list of available certificates and the department to which they should be requested.
Please ensure you attach a copy of your ID card to your request.
Please note: No documents will be provided to third parties.
The Enrolment Office can, upon request:
- Provide information on the academic background of a person who has studied at UCLouvain
- Confirm the authenticity of a document produced by UCLouvain relating to the academic background of a person who has studied at UCLouvain
Please note that the provisions of the law of July 30, 2018, on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data prohibit us from responding to this type of request without the explicit consent of the person concerned. However, based on the UCLouvain document provided, we can, where applicable, certify its authenticity.
Your request should be sent to the following address: authentification@uclouvain.be . It must include the following information:
- Student's last name
- Student's first name
- Student's date of birth
- Student's place of birth
- Title of the course taken by the student and academic year in which it was taken
- A copy of the student's ID
- A handwritten authorization from the student, signed by them
A period of three weeks may be necessary if additional research is required.
Note: Before submitting any request, please check the origin of the documents concerned. Do not confuse the Université Catholique de Louvain with our Dutch-speaking counterpart, the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven.

The Enrolment Office does not issue certified copies.
To obtain certified copies of your documents:
- If you are not in Belgium, you will need to contact the Belgian embassy/consulate in the country where you live.
- If you are in Belgium, you can submit your request to the municipal authorities or a notary.
