Bem-vindo·a to the world of Portuguese speakers

The ILV - Language Institute of the UCLouvain offers courses in Portuguese, in its European and Brazilian variants, from beginner to advanced level.

Location

Courses are held in LLN, on the Louvain-la-Neuve Campus.

Target audience

These courses are open to all:

UCLouvain students

as part of their study programme (PAE), subject to approval from the ILV Teacher, for final approval of the Faculty Select Committee

outside their programme (as "Free Students")

as part of an exchange programme, following selection (registration via 'ERAS LV')

UCLouvain staff members
Non-UCLouvain people ("Free student")

Course organisation

We offer three Portuguese courses : 2 annual courses + 1 four-month course.

Depending on your needs and/or your level, you can take the two annual Portuguese courses 'in part', either exclusively in Q1 or Q2.

LPORT 1100

This 90-hour course runs for 3 hours per week throughout the academic year.
It is an 'all faculty' course, open to all students (both UCLouvain and non-UCLouvain).
CEFR target level for languages : A2 for all four skills (listening, reading, speaking and writing).

Depending on your needs (e.g. preparation for an exchange programme in Q1 or Q2 of the n+1 academic year) or your level, you can take this annual course 'in part', either exclusively in Q1 or Q2 :

♦ LPORT1100A: Elementary level, part 1, corresponding to 45 hours in Q1 (A1 target for all four skills).
♦ LPORT1100B: Elementary level, part 2, corresponding to 45 hours in Q2 (entry level: A1 !).

LPORT 1300

This 90-hour course runs at a rate of 3 hours per week throughout the year.
The course is open to all students (both UCLouvain and non-UCLouvain), who have reached level A2 of the CEFR.
CEFR target levels for languages :
- ∗ Listening comprehension and oral expression: B1+
- ∗ Reading comprehension: B2
- ∗ Written expression: B1

♦ LPORT1300A: Intermediate level, part 1, corresponding to 45 hours in Q1 (entry level, A2).
♦ LPORT1300B: Elementary level, part 2, corresponding to 45 hours in Q2 (entry level, B1 !).

LPORT1500

A 30-hour course, with two hours of teaching per week, for the second term of the 2026–27 academic year only !
The course is open to all students (both UCLouvain and non-UCLouvain).
CEFR target level for languages :
- ∗ B2+ for listening, speaking and writing
- ∗ C1 for reading comprehension.
