The ILV, the Language Institute of the UCLouvain, offers general Spanish courses from level A1 to level C1, as well as specialised courses.
All of our teachers are native Spanish speakers who have received training in teaching Spanish as a foreign language and/or have extensive experience of teaching Spanish.
Our courses follow the levels established by the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) of the Council of Europe and prioritise the action-oriented, communicative methods proposed by the CEFR.
We offer two types of course :
- Faculty courses : the ESPO and FIAL faculties offer Spanish courses to their own students as part of their annual programmes (PAE).
"All faculty" courses : we offer Spanish courses to students from all faculties and schools. First, they must obtain the approval of the Spanish teacher, then the approval of their faculty, and finally add the LESPA course to their annual programme.
These ‘all-faculty’ courses include a Spanish course designed to prepare outgoing Erasmus students for their stay in a Spanish-speaking country (course in LLN or Woluwé).
We also offer...
- As an authorised examination centre, we offer the SIELE Spanish Certificate exam, like the Instituto Cervantes in Brussels.
- The Language Institute offers an inter-university certificate in Spanish language teaching (LovELE), which is open to teachers and future teachers of Spanish as a foreign language (20 ECTS).
This blended learning continuing education course includes specialisation courses and workshops, and is free of charge ! - We also provide coaching, tutoring and tandem learning to support success in Spanish courses.
