Welcome to the Dutch Department
The ILV - Language Institute of the UCLouvain offers a range of Dutch courses from beginner (A1) to advanced (C1) level in accordance with the CEFR, the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
Our teachers has developed a teaching approach tailored to different faculties and courses.
Depending on your field of study, you will have the opportunity to practise Dutch
in all four skills : listening and reading comprehension, as well as speaking and writing.
through a variety of tailored activities.
by learning specific vocabulary
by reviewing grammar.
Our Offer
We offer two types of course units :
1) Faculty courses
Below, or in the menu, first select your Sector, then your Faculty to find out which Dutch language courses are offered there, in Louvain-la-Neuve (and/or Woluwé for the Health Sciences Sector), at Bachelor’s and Master’s level.
2) ‘All faculties’ courses
These “all-faculties” Dutch courses are available
- for UCLouvain Master Students
- under certain exceptional circumstances, to UCLouvain Bachelor’s degree students
only in the PAE (Annual Student Programme), subject to approval from the ILV Teacher, for final approval by the Faculty Select Committee
as part of an exchange programme, following selection (registration via 'ERAS LV')
- to UCLouvain staff members, except in cases of professional necessity
How to register ?
- Select the ‘All Faculties’ category, then choose the course code corresponding to your level ;
- Then go to the ILV Enrolment page :
- I am a UCLouvain student and would like to add a language course [Dutch] to my PAE...
- I am a UCLouvain student and I have already been selected for an exchange programme...
